A Call To Serve

I love baseball! I love watching baseball! I love MLB! But more importantly, I love playing the game! Over the years, I have realized that there are many life lessons taught in the game of baseball:

1. sacrifice fly/bunt – the batter sacrifices his at-bat to move or score the runner. For me the greatest sacrifice came through Jesus.

2. Keeping your eye on the ball – Whether you are in the field or hitting, always watch ball. Always keep your eye on eternal things because earthly things fade away.

3. Patience – As a hitter, waiting for the pitch, not swinging too early or too late. I am learning to always trust in God’s perfect timing.

4. Appreciate the moment – Be grateful and appreciate the things God has given and blessed me with.

To most people MLB stands for Major League Baseball, but in my life it stands for:

M- Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

L- Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”

B- boldness Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

Baseball has been my mission field for a long time. I have had opportunities to pray before games and lead devotions. Baseball is a game I love, but I love God so much more, and desire to share the Gospel through baseball in Nicaragua.
