We Stand in Awe of You

Back in the States, we know a man who owns this large collection of war items. You can’t really narrow it down to a particular thing he collected because it ranged from uniforms, war patches to grenades, ammunition, guns, and so much more. These items came from wars dating back to the Civil War to the wars fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every time we would see him, he would show us his collection and tell us stories about how he obtained the item, the story behind it, and how much it was worth. These visits would last for hours as he shared his passion for collecting these things.

The reason we bring up this man is because God has been doing the same thing to us since we have been here. Just like the man in the States who is proud of his collection, God shows us His collection of people, His stories, and how HE has redeemed their lives for His Glory. Every day we are meeting people who have been impacted by the ministry here. We spend hours on the farm and in homes with different people, listening as they share their testimony about how God saved them and how much the ministry has changed their lives. Every person we have met has an unique story and a different testimony, but each one of them share one thing in common; their life was changed by what God is doing through the ministry.

It is like we are sitting down with God and He is showing us all He is doing here. He first shows us this man’s life and how he was knee deep in drugs and alcohol, his family was falling apart, and was caught up in the wrong crowd. But then, through this ministry, he met God and his life got turned upside down; now he is one of many leaders in our ministry. Then God shows us this woman’s life and how she got married to a man who ended up leaving her for a job and another woman in Costa Rica. Then God showed up, providing people in the ministry to counsel her through this hard time and point her to Christ. After being baptized, she found a man who loves the Lord, they went through marriage counseling with Scott and Jenn, and now she shares her testimony with anyone she meets to remind them how God never left her through all she went through.

As we continue to meet people every day, learn their names, and their story; it is like God wants to show us all He has done and how proud He is of His work here. Every day we stand in awe of all He has done here and every day we stand in awe of what He is going to do through us as we dive deeper into His work here. Being in awe of what God is going to do through us is humbling to say the least. There are some hard days where we can’t seem to speak Spanish, tasks are difficult to get done, or Satan fills our heads with insecurites; it’s those days we struggle with thinking that God will use us to advance His kingdom here. But we serve a God who uses broken vessels to pour out His abundant love, AMEN!

“Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, ‘We have seen remarkable things today.” Luke 5:26. This seems to sum up our awe factor of how AMAZING our God.
