Only Jesus

Lately, I have been reading through the book of Judges and it really has become one of my favorite Old Testament books. There is this cycle that runs constantly through Judges about how the Israelites honor God, forget Him, held captive by an enemy, cry out for help, God sends a leader to lead them out of captivity, and the cycle repeats. This occurs through the entire book. God is always putting someone, a judge/leader in their lives when the Israelites need it most.

I have reflected on that numerous times. God put someone in their lives when they needed them most. When the Israelites were held captive by an enemy, God sent a leader to save them, bringing only glory and honor to God’s name. Doesn’t that sound familiar to us Christians? When we were held captive by sin, God sent his son, a leader, to save us from the Enemy. Reading through Judges, the phrase, “ONLY JESUS,” continues to pound my head. So much so, it became the wallpaper on my phone, the words, “ONLY JESUS,” in all caps. This phrase holds so much power! The Enemy has tried so hard to discourage me. I literally have been fighting on defense the past few weeks. The Enemy has been shooting these arrows of lies at me, “you are not good enough,” “you are alone,” “you have no friends,” “you are worthless in the United States,” “who said you were ever a missionary.” These lies have been stabbing me in my heart, but recently I found my counterattack. I have been shouting, literally sometimes, “ONLY JESUS!” I have stood up and turned to the Enemy shouting, “ONLY JESUS,” every time he shoots one of his arrows.

“You are alone.” “I NEED ONLY JESUS!”

“You have no friends.” “I NEED ONLY JESUS!”

“You are worthless.” “JESUS SAYS I’M HIS SON!”

“You were never a missionary.” “JESUS CALLED ME THEREFORE I AM!”

Today, I stand in attack on Satan, he is on defense now. He tries to shoot me to my knees; but he doesn’t realize, on my knees is where Jesus tells me I need ONLY HIM. On my knees, I find power, on my knees I find my sword, on my knees I find the secret to life – Only Jesus.
